Backgammon Variant: American Acey Deucey (Part 4)
At any time that you have one or more checkers on the bar the first thing that you should doe is to reenter the checkers into the home board of your opponent. You reenter a checker by moving it to an open point that corresponds to one of the numbers of the rolled dice. If you are able to put in some but not all of the checkers on the bar then you must also enter as many as you can but you then give up the remainder of your turn. When it comes to bearing off, once you have moved all fifteen of the checkers into your home board you can begin to do so. Bearing off is done by rolling a number that corresponds to the point where the checker resides. You then remove the checker from the board.
If there is no checker on the point that is indicated by the roll you must make a legal move using a checker that is placed on a higher numbered point. If there are no checkers on the higher numbered point then you must remove a checker from the highest point that has a checker.
When scoring in American Acey Deucey the loser pays one point for each of his checkers that are still on the board or is not yet entered. Gammons and backgammons are not counted as extras.
It must also be remembered that the doubling cube is not used when playing American Acey Deucey.
