Why Do You Play Backgammon?
With any game – sports, card games, computer games, etc. – it is but logical to ask one’s self, why am I spending time on this? Backgammon is no exception. Though it is by far not as booming as poker today, I believe that backgammon has a considerable following all over the world – whether it is off line or online. So have you asked yourself why you play this game?
For many people, it is the challenge of the game that keeps them at it. For others, it is more than that. Whether they choose to play on the computer or live, another reason that may people play backgammon is for social interaction. I think that is why more people prefer to play against humans than the computer. With this premise in mind, I thought of one prevailing concept that we should normally apply when playing backgammon with other people.
Backgammon is known for being a calm and polite game. Jeering and outbursts of emotions are surely not part of it. Yet of course, human as we are, some of that cannot be avoided. Then again, it would be good to always keep control of our emotions and be polite and courteous at all times. That is part of the whole idea of professionalism in backgammon. If you are playing live, it might be a bit more difficult, especially when you experience extremes (both positive and negative). Yet try to bear this in mind and treat others nicely and you will see that you will have a more enjoyable time.
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?
