Strategies, tips and stories about backgammon.

Backgammon In The 70s

Here is a bit of information that you guys from the younger generation may not know about.  Did you know that there used to be a magazine called Las Vegas Backgammon? I have to be honest and say that I did not know about this as well.  After all, I was still somewhere in space, just in my energy form at that time.  I found out about this magazine and the backgammon culture way back then from Play65 Blog.  Anyhow, I found the short snippet very intriguing so I tried to find out more about Las Vegas Backgammon but I couldn’t find anything about the magazine still being published today.  There is still backgammon in Vegas, though, and even if things have changed a lot – names, places, and players – the game is still very much alive and even flourishing.

So what other interesting things are there about Las Vegas Backgammon?  How about Tina Turner in the front page?  This happened in 1979, when the magazine used Tina Turner as the magazine cover.  She was depicted as her very young (and hot, may I add) self, posed over a backgammon board.  The cover was in black and white but I think that it worked out very well.  I don’t know if she actually was into backgammon but based on the picture, it looked like she couldn’t get enough of the game!

Tina Turner may be past her glorious days but I am quite sure that backgammon has still a lot of years ahead of it.  Just some trivia for you guys.
