More Things About Backgammon That You Thought Were True

In the last post, we talked about some backgammon myths – ideas that prevail in some people’s minds. In this post, we will take a look at some more of these myths and hopefully, we can dispel them.
Backgammon computer programs are a hoax
I hear this from a lot of old timers who prefer to play backgammon using the traditional boards. They would not go anywhere near a computer backgammon game. Now, while it is true that some backgammon computer programs may get some things wrong, it is not true that all of them are unreliable. In general, backgammon computer programs are better than the average player. Indeed, only some of the best players in the world could be better than computer programs. If I were you, I’d take full advantage of these programs to eventually become one of the best.
Online dice are rigged
This is somewhat related to the previous myth although there is no indication in the previous myth that there is cheating going on in computer backgammon. Still, there are some people who think that online backgammon is not clean. Even the really good players sometimes think that the computer program considers the position of the player and then rolls the dice in such a way that the person will not get a good roll. I see how tempting it could be to think this way, especially when you get bad rolls at bad times. However, do not fall into this way of thinking. Computer programs roll dice randomly – just like in real life.
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?
